15th Hole - August 2021

Golf Course

Established in 1923, Tredegar Park Golf Club has been located in two different sites across Bassaleg & Rogerstone, moving to our current home in 1999.

Laid out in two loops of nine which both start and end the clubhouse, our hillside layout has matured significantly in recent years.  Long sweeping avenues, gentle undulations and USGA standard Greens make Tredegar Park Golf Club an enjoyable test for all levels of player.

The front is the more forgiving of the nines with more space off the tee than its counterpart. It opens with a tough three hole stretch including the long third which can stretch out to a 236 yard Par 3 from the Medal Tees.

Back to back par fives on holes four and five greet players in the middle, before a very score able stretch of holes until the turn. The memorable 7th, a drive able dogleg par four, offers a great risk/reward opportunity for many.

The extensive tree planting schedule of those early years has now come to maturation, especially on the much changed back nine with each hole now being flanked by long winding avenues of trees.

A change in layout in 2019, converting the old tenth and eleventh holes to the finishing pair, now provides a fitting finish for stroke play and match play games directly in front of the clubhouse bar.

The back nine is certainly the tougher of the two nines with the signature par four thirteenth perhaps best encapsulating the dynamic. A devilishly tricky uphill tee shot with a fairway tightly guarded by trees on both sides, all players then need pin point accuracy to find the right part of the dual level, "Hogs Back" green which slopes steeply back towards the fairway.

The new finishing hole, a reachable par five for longer hitters, provides plenty of drama in tournament play.

Hole 1 - Ynys-Yr-Fro

White tees - 369 yards
Yellow tees - 318 yards
Red tees - 291 yards

Playing towards Ynysfro Reservoir, the opening salvo at Tredegar Park Golf Club requires an accurate tee shot up the left side of a gently cambered fairway.

Players will be keen to find the correct level of the green with the second shot. As one of the largest greens on the course, many will be happy to leave with two putts.
